YOGA and the SUZUKI ACTOR TRAINING METHOD
with Will Wheeler and Lukas Angelini
The workshop / training day will start with VINYASA FLOW Yoga practice. A joyful, dynamic start with an emphasis on flowing movement, breath and alignment.
We will then explore a series of Suzuki Actor Training Method exercises in which movements are initiated from the centre of the body and in which the performers increase their relationship with the ground as well as with the ensemble.
Both practices address and develop a variety of skills that are useful for actors of all performance genres, such as physical strength, control and co-ordination, concentration, energy, breathing, voice and spatial awareness. We will also be working with a short piece of text and finish the workshop with an hour of improvisations.
This is a physically challenging training day open to all.
Will Wheeler is an experienced Yoga Teacher. Lukas Angelini has taught workshops for the Theatre Training Initiative since 2000. Both trained as actors and both are Associate Artists of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain.
